Searching the bibliographic listings: Help

This facility allows you to search the listings of aerospace medical publications. You can search the listings using any or all of the parameters and options provided on the search page. To make a search enter the parameters as required and click on the 'Submit Query' button at the bottom of the form.

Hits are limited to 100 per search. If your search results to more than 100 hits the most recent 100 are displayed. Results are displayed in reverse chronlogical order with the most recent publications being displayed first. Once I've worked-out how to code for the return successive pages of, say, 20 hits (a la Google) I will remove this limitation.

You can search using author either alone or in combination with searches using keywords. You can search using keywords either alone or in combination with searches using author. You can also refine these searches further by selecting a range of years of publication.

The upper, or blue, section of the form is titled 'Search for author' and allows you to search for publications by author by providing you with four search options.

The middle, or green, section of the form is titled 'Search using keywords' and allows you to search for publications by keywords by providing you with six search options.

The lower, or pink, section of the form is titled 'Limit the search' and allows you refine your search by making any of three selections. These selections allow you to limit your search to a range of publication years, to a subset of journals, or to not printout article abstracts and links to PDF files.

The first choice in this section allows you to "Select range of years". This lets you restrict the hits to those articles published during the year range that you specify.

The second choice in this section allows you to "Limit to AsMA journals". This lets you either restrict the hits to articles published by the Aerospace Medicine Association* (AsMA) or to the whole database. The majority of the articles in the database are from AsMA journals.

The third choice in this section allows you to "Show abstracts and articles". If the selection is made to 'how any abstracts and links to articles' the articles that are found by your search will include, where available, their abstracts and, also where available, a link so you can download a PDF of the article. At present many of the more recent article have abstracts and very few PDFs are loaded into the system. (If you want to see this work search for "vasovagal" as a keyword. The first paper returned includes both an abstract and a link so the PDF of the article can be downloaded)

* The Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA) and her predecessor organisations have published the following journals: Journal of Aviation Medicine (1930 - 1959); Aerospace Medicine (1960 - 1974); Aviation Space and Environmental Medicine (1975 - present).

Warning:

This facility contains over ten thousand listings so if your search parameters are too general the results page could take a long time to load
